Using the college bursary funding to ensure he can travel to attend all his lessons, and on time, Gudi is eager to learn as much as he can about his craft.

Gudi’s go-getter attitude and initiative with tasks has been rewarded, by being the first student at Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) to achieve a Distinction grade in the Level 2 Extended Certificate Mechanical Engineering qualification.

He is known in class for being exemplary with his own work, a very independent worker and generous in giving peer support, going the extra mile to help where he can. Gudi has impressively been able to help teach his peers intricate welding techniques, after being taught these only once by his tutor, bringing other students up to his skill level.

“If something is difficult, always ask, as there is always help available at RuTC,” Gudi advises.

His ambitious plan for the future is to become a top civil engineer to, “help build a more efficient, safer and greater construction in the UK.” He is hoping to attend university after leaving RuTC to continue the journey towards his goal.

Gudi’s dedication to becoming successful links back to the love and inspiration he feels from his parents. Their sacrifices and hard work to make sure he succeeds, is what keeps him going. He remarks, “I want to make them proud!”
