Sophia has been on an extraordinary journey at Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC). Studying in our Foundation Learning department, she has learned some vital skills and gained invaluable experiences to take into her life after college.

Sophia

Sophia is praised as a kind, supportive and helpful student to her peers and college staff. She brings a hugely positive energy to college every day, never not seen with a smile on her face. Her attitude towards learning is exemplary and she is extremely dedicated to gaining as much knowledge as she can, to better improve herself.

Sophia recognises her biggest achievement during her time at RuTC as winning a student award for excellence. This is a huge honour for Sophia, and she is thrilled that her determination and commitment to her studies shines through.

Outside of the classroom, Sophia gets great joy from the extracurricular activities we offer at the college. In particular, cooking and football are where her interests lie, during which she has the chance to connect with friends and have fun!

Ask for support

Sophia

Sophia is inspired by her older sister, Helen, who is an alumnus of RuTC, and currently studying Biomedical Science at the University of Westminster. Watching Helen studying and working hard to achieve her goals is what motivates Sophia to do well and fuels her ambition.

Wanting to give back to society after she leaves college, Sophia aspires to become a primary school teacher, to “help young children enjoy learning as much as I do.”

Offering a key piece of advice to others, she says, “Always ask for support and help. Don’t be shy.”
