The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship is designed to develop your understanding and knowledge of enterprise and entrepreneurship and is suitable for those who aspire to start their own business or pursue a career in a dynamic business environment such as higher education, apprenticeship or employment.

This course consists of mandatory and optional units which offer comprehensive knowledge and skills in enterprise and entrepreneurship. You should complete a specified number of units in order to achieve the qualification from the list below:

  • Launch and Run an Enterprise

  • Entry requirements

    Four GCSEs at grades 9-4 (grade A- C) including English or Maths, or a Level 2 qualification at Pass/Merit with GCSE English or Maths at grade 9-4 (grade A - C).

  • Who is the course for?

    This course is suitable for students age groups: 16-19 years.

  • Study methods

    Written Assignments: Learners are expected to demonstrate and apply their understanding of theoretical concepts.

    Practical Tasks: Learners are expected to demonstrate skills in real or simulated business environments. This can be through presentations

  • How is the course assessed?
    • Projects: Learners are expected to undertake in-depth projects that integrate multiple aspects of the course content.
      • Examinations: Some units are exam units which are externally assessed. These units include written paper exams and computer based, both exams are meant to test the knowledge and understanding of what has been covered.

        The grading system is as follows: Unclassified, Pass, Merit and Distinction.

    This course is a full-time course that runs for 3 days per week over one full academic year. As part of the course, learners will also be required to complete work experience. Students enrolled on this course are expected to take part in live projects with Young Enterprise.

    We have the following links with employers: Young Enterprise (employability and financial education charity), plus organise industry visits, such as Cadbury World.
