  • Entry requirements

    Minimum requirements are 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) including English and Maths at grade 3. OR Level 1 Diploma at Pass in an appropriate subject, with GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or Functional Skills equivalent AND a proven interest and ability in music, demonstrated at audition.

  • Who is the course for?

    This one year UAL qualification course puts you, the student, at the centre of your training. We look at the skills and strengths that you bring and develop them, helping you to reach your full potential. This course is designed to develop a wide range of music making skills, including music performance and music production and is aimed at learners who have a musical background and who want to hone their skills in a collaborative manner, to get ready for work in the music industry.

  • Study methods

    You will be taught in both a classroom-based environment, as well as in our state-of-the-art music studios. The course follows a hands on approach. You will have to play a wide variety of roles during the whole year such as sound engineer, producer, crew member or performer. The goal is that by the end of the year you are a well-rounded musician with the potential to work in several areas, such performing, composing or working as a sound engineer.

  • How is the course assessed?

    You will develop as both a performer and as a music producer, collaborating with other members of your group on different projects throughout the year. Projects will take many forms, including composing music for a charity project, creating your own single/EP, performing original and cover material as a band and sound engineering. You will focus on developing your own role throughout the year.

  • Where Next – Job Opportunities

    Successful students can work in a range of roles, these may include working in creative industries such as a sound engineer, composer, music producer, a member of stage stage crew, performer and manager.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    On successful completion of the Level 2 course, you can progress to the UAL Level 3 qualification specialising in music production or performance.
