On the OCR Level 2 Diploma in Sport you will study the following units:
Unit 1: Fitness Testing and training
Unit 2: Practical Sport
Unit 7: Planning and Leading Sports Activities
Unit 8: Technical Skills and Tactical Awareness for Sport
Unit 10: Nutrition for Sports Performance
Unit 11: Development of Personal Fitness
Unit 20: Planning and running a Sports Event

All students will have a personal tutor and access to a wide range of enrichment activities. Your course will give you an opportunity to develop skills in numeracy, literacy and communication, including speaking and listening skills.

  • Entry requirements

    4 GCSE grades 3/4 preferably including English and/or Maths or a Merit on a relevant Level 1 qualification. Places are subject to a successful football trial. You must have a keen interest in football and coaching.

  • Who is the course for?

    This course option is for those with proven playing ability, which will be selected by trial, who seek a first class education and have predicted grades 3/4 at GCSE level and want to work in the sports industry.

  • Study methods

    Training is on Tuesday and Thursday with games played on a Wednesday. College classes will take place over the same five day period and will consist of a variety of lectures, videos, outside speakers, research, student presentations and day trips to appropriate sites.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Through a combination of written assignments, presentations and practical assessments.

  • More information

    There will be some additional materials costs; textbook - approximately £20, pen and paper, USB memory stick, plastic wallets, folders. Appropriate football boots.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    Entry to the BTEC level 3 in sports performance, paid or unpaid work in the community.
