The course covers a wide range of computing technology to build up your knowledge of computers and gaming systems. You will be learning how to develop gaming mechanics and gaining knowledge into how games are made via the use of a 2D game engine. At the end of the year you will have built a portfolio of work to be used to represent your ability in the future.

Mandatory course units include:

    4 GCSEs grade 3 (grade D) or above preferably including both English and Maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification.

  • Who is the course for?

    This course has been designed for students interested in the development of games. The course provides a basis for further training and higher education or for moving into employment.

    Students can develop the skills, knowledge and understanding, that underpin a range of occupations in the computing and game development industry including the creation of game assets and games programming.

    This course is classroom taught and you will have opportunities to develop your creative skills through instructor-led workshops.

  • How is the course assessed?

    This course is assessed through a combination of exams and assignments designed to give you hands-on experience of basic software development.
