The cybersecurity qualification is made up of six units, two of which are examined whilst the remaining four are coursework based. These include:
- Setting up and configuring technology systems
- Exploring current and emerging technologies
- Security protection and risk management
- IT service solutions
- Networking tools and applications
- Installing and maintaining networks.

Entry requirements
4 GCSEs grade 3 (grade D) or above preferably including both English and Maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification.

Who is the course for?
This course has been designed for students who are interested in a career in cybersecurity. It has been designed to respond to industry needs to lead students into either a Level 3 Computer bases course, a cybersecurity apprenticeship or T-Level.

Study methods
You will be taught in computer classrooms throughout. This is a practical based course which also includes on line exams, group work, discussion, presentations, workshops and mini projects.

How is the course assessed?
IT service solutions and security protection and risk management modules are assessed through online examinations. The other units are assessed through assignment work.

Learners are prepared for T-levels with this course. You will be given the chance to gain appropriate work experience. There will be a number of talks from guest speakers and trips to EXG that will help enhance your experience.

Learners progress onto cybersecurity and related apprenticeships or to a T-Level in Computing or Information Technology or to a BTEC Level 3 course in Science, Business, Information technology or Computing.
