On this course students will study the following:

  • Being organised
  • Developing a personal progression plan
  • Working with others
  • Researching a topic
  • Developing digital information
  • Creating a spreadsheet to solve problems
  • Creating a website
  • Branding a product
  • Recording income and expenditure
  • Designing an interactive presentation.

    The study programme is made up of the following strands:
  • Portfolio Work: BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Introductory Vocational Qualifications
  • GCSE or Functional Skills Maths and English
  • Work Placement - 36 hours minimum
  • Employability-focused tutorials
  • Vocational units in IT.
  • Entry requirements

    You should have an interest in the subject area you are applying for. There are no formal entry requirements but we will assess your level of English and maths to make sure you are working at Entry Level 3 or above. This is to ensure you are able to meet the course requirements.

  • Who is the course for?

    Students who are interested in boosting their English, Maths and vocational skills. Students who want to progress onto a Level 2 vocational course or employment the following year.

  • Study methods

    Lectures, practical workshops and research. This course will allow students the opportunities to develop skills in a variety of different areas within the college.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Candidates have to collect a portfolio of evidence. Assessment consists of both performance and knowledge evidence. Performance evidence is through direct observation of the candidate, products or outcomes of the candidate's work, such as items that have been produced or worked on. Maths and English will be assessed through exams.

    There are a number of enrichment activities throughout the year including: EGX esports activities and idea.org medals.

  • Where Next – Job Opportunities

    With future training, can progress to a number of jobs requiring ICT.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    Students may progress onto a Level 2 course.
