In June, the Travel & Tourism department at Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) hosted a ‘Culture Day’, to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures represented by students and staff at the college.
The annual event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together from the vast number of different backgrounds that make our college so vibrant.
The celebrations included cultural displays of traditional dress and artifacts, workshops, storytelling and unique musical and dance performances. There was also a delicious lunch served, with homemade dishes from various cuisines and countries. The day ended with a catwalk show, for participants to show off their outfits and passion for where they come from!
Travel & Tourism lecturer and lead event organiser, Hannah Talabany commented:
“Culture Day this year was a remarkable success, with an impressive number of students participating and showcasing their diverse cultural attires and traditions. It was bigger and better than ever, enjoyed by a vast audience of staff and students alike. I am incredibly proud of our Travel & Tourism students, who played a major role in the meticulous planning and execution of the event.”
It was a truly memorable event, creating a buzzy, positive day for all involved!
