Jack Petchey Award Nichole, Sophie & DeliciaLevel 2 Dance student Sophie Martin has won a Jack Petchey Award for her positive attitude to learning and enthusiasm for her subject.

The Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme recognises the positive contributions, efforts, and endeavours of young people aged 11-25 across London and Essex. These achievements include being a great role model, volunteering, overcoming personal challenges, and supporting others over and above expectations.

Each term exceptional students are nominated by their classmates and teachers to win a Jack Petchey award. The winner receives a £300 grant, which can be used for anything that will benefit the class outside of necessary materials, which are provided by the college.

Sophie’s peers nominated her for the award for being friendly, caring and supportive and always trying her best in class!

Jack Petchey Award Dance ClassHer tutor, Delicia, commented on her efforts:

“Sophie has been a great student and peer this year. She approaches everything with a positive attitude and has often overcome personal struggles to be present in class and support her classmates. She has delivered some excellent performances this year that showcase her true passion for dance.”

As well as her completing her coursework to a high standard, Sophie has also been exploring her interest in dance photography. During the annual dance festival, IGNITE, in March, she worked closely with a professional photographer, who commented on how enthusiastic and helpful she was. Sophie’s passion and enthusiasm for everything she does define her as a student and make her an excellent example for others.

Great work, Sophie!
