Level 1, Exploring the Aviation Industry student, Darius Neamtu, won a Jack Petchey award this term for his dedication, ambition, and leadership skills. He is described by his classmates and tutor as destined for greatness!
The Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme recognises the positive contributions, efforts, and endeavours of young people aged 11-25 across London and Essex. These achievements include being a great role model, volunteering, overcoming personal challenges, and supporting others over and above expectations.
Each term exceptional students are nominated by their classmates and teachers to win a Jack Petchey award. The winner receives a £300 grant, which can be used for anything that will benefit the class outside of necessary materials, which are provided by the college.
Darius’s tutor, Keivin, commented on his achievement:
“Darius has shown unwavering commitment to his studies, with his eye firmly set on a future in aviation as a pilot. His determination is inspiring, and his focus on achieving his dream is matched by his kindness and ability to bring out the best in those around him. Not only does he excel academically, but he is also a natural-born leader. His classmates look up to him for guidance, and his supportive and inclusive nature creates a positive environment wherever he goes. He is a shining example of what it means to chase your dreams while uplifting those around you. This is a totally well-deserved recognition, and we look forward to seeing him soar—both figuratively and, one day, literally. Well done, Darius!”
The class will be using their award money to take a trip to The London Dungeon, exploring one of the capital’s popular tourist attractions, followed by a game of bowling to work on their team building skills.
