Last term, Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) Engineering student, Adam Jastrzebi, completed a successful work experience placement at Hounslow based Steel Fabrications company, Steelo. Adam is currently studying on our Level 3 ECITB course, beginning his college career in 2022 to study his A-Levels.
Steel detailing company, Steelo, manufactures high quality steel products, from simple connections to entire building frames, and has earned recognition as one of London’s leading steel fabricators. Adam completed his weeklong work experience at Steelo in November, working under Design Team Leader Sadd, who as a mentor, provided tasks and oversaw Adam’s work.
Sadd, commented:
“It was a smooth work experience process with RuTC. Adam was a quick learner, following instructions carefully for training models he was given and making minimal mistakes.”
Technology and Engineering tutor at RuTC, Ashok, has a played a key role in helping secure work experience placements for his students, including Adam. Our college staff work tremendously hard to build connections with employers and local businesses, ensuring our students are provided with the best training opportunities and future job prospects.
Adam’s goal for the future is to become a chartered Engineer and work within the oil and gas industry. He is currently enjoying the benefits of RuTC’s recently developed STEM Centre, providing the most up to date facilities and equipment to enhance learning and skill development.
Adam said of his work experience:
“My work experience at Steelo was incredibly valuable. I gained hands-on insight into steel detailing and had the opportunity to learn Tekla, a software that will be a big asset for my future in design and engineering. The skills I developed there, combined with the knowledge I’m building through my course at RuTC, have given me a great foundation to pursue a career in this industry.”
