From 26th February to 1st March, Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) celebrated Colleges Week, an annual initiative organised by the Association of Colleges.
The AoC launched Colleges Week in 2018 as part of the #LoveOurColleges campaign, as an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the brilliant things colleges do to support learners and staff. The theme was ‘Influencing, Engaging, Celebrating’ in which we acknowledged the work, effort and skill of our staff and students.
Various events and interactive lessons were organised in the college to support the celebration. On Tuesday 27th our HR department ran a ‘Health & Wellbeing Fair’ available to all students and staff. This took place in our main Atrium space over the course of the day and featured stalls from various health organisations, including the NHS and equality charity, METRO. Attendees were able to chat to representatives from these organisations about any health and wellbeing concerns and obtain information of the kind of support and services available.
RuTC also delivered a Women in STEM Conference to Year 10s at our neighbouring school, Richmond upon Thames School, on Wednesday 28th. This was a brilliant opportunity to promote our wonderful college facilities and teaching staff to potential new students, and to inspire and empower young women to pursue studying science, technology and engineering subjects.
To round off the celebrations, students were asked to leave comments detailing what they love most about attending RuTC on our college Padlet forum. The responses were overwhelmingly positive, with one student saying, “I love how diverse and unique this college is” and another quoting, "The teachers are very helpful, and they understand us.”
Everyone at RuTC is incredibly proud to be able to have such a valuable impact on our students lives and their college experiences.
