On the 5th and 6th of December, Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) Dance students put on a Christmas Dance Gala, 'Starward', for a busy audience in our college Auditorium. Both 1st and 2nd year dance students performed in several known pieces, as well as showcasing their own work. Students performed in jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, and commercial styles. Our students thoroughly entertained spectators and the show brought a festive atmosphere to the college in the run up to the winter break.
After each show the dancers handed out surveys for the audience to complete to receive feedback and help improve the quality of performances in the future. Answering the question 'What did you like about the performance?' an audience member answered: "The different dances and the range of talent in the show," and another said: "The variety of music and all the students being involved." Many audience members rated their experience between 8 to 10 (on a 1-10 scale), concluding that the show was a huge success!
Dance tutor, Delicia Seficha commented:
“Preparing and performing at this Christmas Dance Gala has been a great learning experience for the students, who are now preparing for their next shows at IGNITE, a dance event that Richmond College hosts every year for local dance schools and groups.”
