In early December, our Level 2 Applied Science and Level 3 Biomedical Science students took a trip to the Wellcome Collection Museum at Euston Square. This trip was primarily organised for them to get involved in World AIDs Day 2023, an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s, and to remember those who have lost their lives to the disease.
Our students were welcomed warmly by staff at the Wellcome Collection and were presented with information about HIV and AIDs to begin their visit. After this they were able to explore the Museum's permanent displays and current exhibitions, all exploring health and human experience.
As part of the creative activity portion of the session, the students were asked to produce a campaign poster to spread a key message that they had learnt about HIV & AIDs during the day. Staff at the Wellcome Collection commented that our students produced some fantastic, very creative work!
This trip was insightful and inspiring for all involved. It was a brilliant day out for our science students to learn in an interactive way about such an important historical period that impacted so many people.
