Last week, on Wednesday evening, Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) enjoyed the delights of our annual Winter Music Concert, which was held on campus, in the Auditorium. The performers were drawn from our UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma courses in Music Performance and Production; A Level Music Technology and Supported Learning department. The performances included a range of instruments as well as singers and covered a variety of different music genres.
There were so many high points of the concert, from the blazing rock guitar solos of Alex Portat and Liam Fitzgerald-Sosa to the cool Latin beats of Nicole Carvalho and her band. We had supercharged hip-hop from rapper Ryan Connolly and a beautiful rendition of Mozart from Lily Geary-Edwards on flute. There was something for everyone!
The packed audience was made up of friends, family, fellow students, staff and external guests, who were all thoroughly entertained throughout the evening.
Music tutor Tony Chidgey said of the evening:
“This type of event provides invaluable experience for our students as they have a hand in planning and producing a concert to a high professional standard. The show was project-managed by our Extended Diploma group. All our students had a role, either as performers or technical crew and they gained invaluable skills and confidence from their participation. They really enjoyed the process too!”
