At the end of our winter term, Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) held a Christmas lunch and staff awards ceremony, to thank and celebrate staff throughout the college for their hard work and achievements.
Students finished at midday on the final day of term, after which a Christmas lunch was served in the college canteen for all members of staff. The space was decorated with balloons and festive table decorations, bringing a celebratory atmosphere to the day. Entertainment was provided by our music lecturers, who performed festive songs on piano, guitar and saxophone. A raffle also took place, with prizes delivered from Caterlink, our partner catering company. These included free coffee and free lunches for a week for the winners.
Staff then headed to the Auditorium for the awards presentation. This was hosted by RuTC Principal, Gavin Hughes, and was attended by HRUC CEO, Keith Smith, who gave a congratulatory and uplifting speech. All staff across the college had the chance to nominate potential award winners in the run up to the event, recognising the work of colleagues. There was a fantastic atmosphere during the ceremony, with lots of cheering and support for staff accomplishments.
The winners of the day included Performing Arts lecturer, Jane Swift, for Teacher of the Year, Head of Marketing, Clare Tear, who won the Support Staff Manager award and the reception team of Nicola Ross and Victoria Davies for Support Staff Members of the Year. Head of Estates, Mark Brough was chosen as the winner of the Principal's award, for embodying everything we aspire to be at HRUC. Long-serving members of staff, who have worked at the college for over ten years, were also presented with length of service awards at the ceremony. It was a hugely successful celebration and a wonderful way to end the term on a high note.
