This month, Richmond upon Thames (RuTC) Computing & IT tutor, Sergik Gharapetian, attended a day of celebration at The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) for the achievements of their apprentices during 2023.We are pleased to partner with NPL as part of our apprenticeship programme at RuTC and placed student, Tyler Smith as an IT Solutions Technician apprentice there in 2021. Tyler is coming to the end of his apprenticeship and hopes to continue as a permanent employee at NPL.During the celebration ceremony, senior managers of NPL and CEO, Dr Peter Thompson, specifically thanked RuTC for the support provided during Tyler's apprenticeship programme.
Tyler was recognised as a standout student and apprentice at RuTC's Student Awards earlier this term. He has also been congratulated by the Twickenham MP, Munira Wilson, who recognised our support for his accomplishment.
Sergik commented:
“The apprenticeship programme has been a great experience for Tyler, and I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting him. He has excelled in his work and the apprenticeship programme, mainly due to his friendly personality, maturity, patience and analytical approach to problem solving.
Tyler has demonstrated the ability to work independently, completing assignments and passing exams with minimal instructions given. During the programme he successfully comprehended numerous technical terms and information without the need for additional support.
Tyler's hard work and focus will lead to a promising career, making him a valuable employee for any company.”
Tyler said of his achievements:
“My experience with both the college and NPL has given me the confidence and assurance needed to perform whilst both working and studying. I am very grateful to both my team and mentors at the college for their support throughout this apprenticeship, and believe I am very lucky to have been at both NPL and Richmond upon Thames College.”
